BTS’s “Dynamite” Lands No. 1 On Billboard’s Hot 100, Achieving Highest Ranking Ever For Korean Act

BTS’s “Dynamite” has made it shocking debut on Billboard’s Hot 100 and it claimed the No. 1!
Billboard announced the top 10 in its Hot 100 for the week ending in September 5. The chart ranks the most popular songs in the United States across all genres based on streaming, radio airplay and sales data.
BTS’s recently released English language track “Dynamite” entered the chart at No. 1. This is the highest ranking on the chart achieved by an all Korean group.
According to Nielson Music/MRC Data, the track achieved 33.9 million U.S. streams and garnered 300,000 sales in its first week which ending on August 27. “Dynamite” gained 11.6 million radio airplay audience impressions in the week ending in August 30.
“Dynamite” had 265,000 downloads sold in its first week added to it’s overall first week total sales of 300,000 including vinyl and cassette physical versions.
With this achievement, “Dynamite” has made history as it ranks higher than PSY’s “Gangnam Style” which made the No. 2 in 2012.
BTS’s preview title track “ON” debuted on the Hot 100 in March at No. 4. At that time, they held the record of highest ranking and highest score for a Korean group.
BTS performed “Dynamite” for the first time in the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards on August 30. They went home with all the awards they were nominated for, earning four trophies in total including Best Pop.
