CJ ENM Confirms WannaOne Will Not Hold Reunion Performance At #2020MAMA

Updated November 20:

CJ ENM has now announced that there will not be a WannaOne reunion performance at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (2020 MAMA).

A CJ ENM representative informed MyDaily on November 20, “Wanna One will not be appearing at 2020 MAMA”.

“As the members are each actively promoting in their own respective spots, we thought it might be meaningful in many ways to show a performance to K-pop fans or music fans through the ‘MAMA’ stage, and so we were in discussion with each of the agencies,” they said. “Mnet will continue to support the work and futures of each of the Wanna One members.” they continued.

This recent development is a contradiction to the previous news that confirmed that there would be a WannaOne reunion performance.

WannaOne might have a Reunion!

Ilgan Sports reported that CJ ENM has proposed a WannaOne performance for 2020 MAMA. This was inspired by the performance former Wanna One members Kim Jae Hwan, Ha Sung Woon, Park Ji Hoon, Lee Dae Hwi and Park Woo Jin gave together at KCON:TACT Season 2 last month.

On November 5, CJ ENM confirmed the reports with the statement, “We are in discussions for Wanna One’s collaboration performance, but nothing has been decided as of yet.”

WannaOne was a project group created from the top 11 contestants from “Produce 101 Season 2”. Some of the members of WannaOne were originally from a different group so when the group disbanded, they went back to their former groups (NU’EST’s Minhyun), some debuted in new groups, (AB6IX’s Lee Dae Hwi and Park Woo Jin, CIX’s Bae Jin Young), and other went solo, (Ha Sung Woon, Yoon Ji Sung, Ong Seong Wu, Kim Jae Hwan, Kang Daniel, Park Ji Hoon, Lai Kuanlin).

2020 MAMA will take place on December 6 and according to the reports, will take place without face-to-face contact (“intact”).

In other news, BTS has confirmed attendance of 2020 MAMA, the group will be performing songs from their upcoming and highly anticipated album ‘BE’.
