Park Seo Joon, Park Bo Young, And Lee Byung Hun Begin Filming For Their New Movie “Concrete Utopia”
Park Seo Joon, Park Bo Young and Lee Byung Hun have begun filming for the upcoming movie “Concrete Utopia” (literal title)!
The movie “Concrete Utopia”, is a disaster thriller loosely based on part 2 of the hit webtoon “Joyful Outcast” (“Pleasant Neighbors”) telling the aftermath of a devastating earthquake. The movie begins when the survivors of the earthquake gather at Hwang Goong Apartments, the only building left standing after the disaster.
On April 16, “Concrete Utopia” officially started filming. In celebration, the producers released photos from the cast’s first table read.
Lee Byung Hun will play the role of Young Tak, the leader of the gathered residents of Hwang Goong Apartments. He is fearless and determined to protect the Hwang Goong Apartments no matter the cost.
Regarding his role in the project, Lee Byung Hun commented, “I’m excited and looking forward to working with director Um Tae Hwa and most of the cast, including Park Seo Joon and Park Bo Young, for the first time.”
Korean actor Park Seo Joon will play Min Sung, a devoted husband who is selected by Young Tak as an assistant. As he tackles crisis after crisis, he grows bolder and confident.
Park Seo Joon revealed what had drawn him to the film and the character, Min Sung. The actor shared, “I’m excited to be taking on the challenge of a new genre. I was drawn to the changes in Min Sung’s emotions throughout the incidents that take place within the space of Hwang Goong Apartments, among the people that live there.”
Finally, actress Park Bo Young will be returning to the screen as Min Sung’s wife, Myung Hwa. She is a former nurse and a brave woman with the ability to remain calm even in the most stressful situations. She is kind and uses her skills to help others.
Park Bo Young expressed her excitement to be making her acting comeback through this project. She said, “I’m delighted to be a part of ‘Concrete Utopia,’ and I’ll work hard during filming. The atmosphere during the script reading was lively and overflowing with energy, to the point where I could feel each character that I read in the script come to life. I’m looking forward to filming, and I’m excited and looking forward to working with such great actors. I think I’ll be able to learn a lot on set, and I’ve made up my mind to work harder in my preparations so that I can do a good job portraying [my character] in the film.”
